Khorramabad Chandelier

A single tier ring of hand finished alabaster blocks on a matt black frame, hung on a short chain so the stone sits level below the ceiling.

The blocks are cut from natural alabaster and set upright around the outside of a black metal ring, close enough to touch, so the lit fixture reads as a continuous band of glowing stone with dark seams between the pieces. Each block carries its own veining and the light passing through it changes with the thickness of the stone, which is why no two fixtures look the same. The frame is matt black and the underside of the ring is open, so light falls straight down as well as out through the stone.

Where it works: over a dining room table, in a hallway with height, or in a living room where the ring can sit clear of head height.
