Anar Wall Light

A plain round disc of natural alabaster held off the wall on a small dark bracket, hiding the lamp completely and letting the light escape around the edges.

The stone does all the work here. It stands proud of the wall on a short bracket, leaving a gap the whole way round, so the light comes out as a halo behind the disc and a softer glow through the face of it. Alabaster is translucent at this thickness and the grey and rust veining only shows once the lamp is on, which is why the fitting looks like a plain white circle by day and something else entirely at night. The bracket is small, dark and deliberately understated.

Where it works: as a bedside pair, along a hallway, or in a living room where you want atmosphere rather than task light.

The bracket colour is the one thing worth querying: the word bronze and the photograph do not agree.
