Arash Floor Lamp

A matt black dome on a curved stem that leans out over a chair, standing on an open ring rather than the usual solid disc base.

The stem rises from a circular ring on the floor, bends forward at the top and drops a deep dome shade at reading height, angled rather than hanging level. Outside it is matt black paint, inside it is lined in antique brass, so the light arrives warm instead of grey and there is something to look at when you are sitting under it. The ring base is a genuine cut out rather than a disc, which means it takes up less visual room in a small lounge than its footprint suggests. It stands tall and has an in-line switch on the cable.

Where it works: a living room beside a sofa or an armchair, a home office over a desk, or a dining room corner that needs height.
