Bolour Pendant Light

A globe cut and hollowed from natural alabaster, hung on a rigid rod so it sits at a fixed height rather than swinging on a cable.

Alabaster is hollowed out until the wall is thin enough to pass light, which is why a stone sphere can behave like an opal shade and still show its own veining. Lit, the grey and honey markings appear across the surface and the whole globe glows evenly with no visible hot spot. Unlit, it reads as a plain stone ball. The stem is a rigid rod rather than a flex, so the drop is set by the rod length and the fitting stays exactly where it is put, which suits a run over an island.

Where it works: over a bedside table, along a hallway in a run, or spaced along a kitchen island at a fixed height.

A rigid rod means the height is decided before it goes up. Get the rod length from the supplier and measure the room first.
