Barbari Wall Light

A clear glass cone opening upward on a slim brass stem, so the light goes to the ceiling and comes back into the room as a soft wash rather than a beam.

The stem is a plain brass rod that passes through a round backplate and carries on a short way below it, which is what gives the fitting its length and keeps it looking like a drawn line rather than a bracket. At the top the glass cone sits open to the ceiling, so the lamp lights the wall above and the ceiling beyond, and the room gets the light second hand. The glass is clear, so the lamp itself is visible from below, and the whole fitting is solid brass under a burnished finish.

Where it works: along a hallway, as a bedside pair, or in a living room where an upward wash suits the ceiling better than a downward one.
