Shushtar Chandelier

Six bare bulbs radiate from a central brass hub on straight, adjustable arms, a mid-century sputnik chandelier that hangs from a single pole.

A single down rod carries a small brass hub from which six slim arms extend in a flat radiating pattern, each one ending in an exposed bulb holder. Every arm can be angled individually, so the spread can be widened or tightened to suit the room, and the adjustable pole lets you set the drop for a high or standard ceiling. With six bulbs lit, the effect is a warm, encompassing glow that reads as a sculptural piece even before dark; unlit, the bare brass arms hold their own as a mid-century design statement.

Where it works: over a dining table, in a living room with a higher ceiling, or a stairwell void.

Six bulbs are fully exposed, so vintage-style filament lamps will make more of the fixture than plain LEDs.
