Sepidar Wall Light

A flat woven shade, natural cord wound in radiating lines around an open centre, with the lamp sitting back inside the middle like a sun behind its rays.

The cord is wrapped tightly from an outer hoop into a central ring, so the disc is made entirely of parallel lines running to the middle, and light passing behind them turns each one into a fine bright thread. The centre is left open with a small dished holder inside it, which means the lamp is visible and the light comes forward as well as glowing through the winding. It sits flat against the wall rather than projecting from it, so it works in a corridor where anything with an arm would be in the way.

Where it works: above a bedside table, along a hallway, or beside a chair in a reading corner where the pattern of the cord will be seen up close.
