A deeply fluted urn on a square plinth in a limed brown finish, under a wide oatmeal linen shade, cast in resin rather than turned from timber.

The base is a classical urn, its body cut into deep vertical flutes that run from the foot up to a plain collar, standing on a stepped square plinth. It is the most architectural column in this supplier's range and the flutes are what carry it, holding a line of shadow each and giving the brown finish somewhere to gather. The base is cast resin rather than real timber, so the limed wood look is a finish rather than real grain, worth knowing before it arrives lighter than it looks. Above sits a wide tapered linen shade in oatmeal with a ball finial. It has an in-line switch on the flex for on-off control.

Where it works: on a living room console, on a bedroom chest of drawers, or in a hallway where a tall lamp does the work of an overhead light.
