The legs are round section brass, kept deliberately thin so the lamp reads as a drawing rather than a piece of furniture, and they meet in a collar just under the shade. The brass is polished rather than brushed, so it picks up warm highlights along each leg and reads gold in low light. The shade is a tapered drum, narrower at the top than the bottom, in a plain white fabric that keeps the light clean and does not tint it. Open at both ends, so some light goes up to the ceiling as well as down. The cable runs down one leg and is visible, which is normal for the type.

Where it works: a living room beside a sofa, a bedroom corner, or a reading corner where the shade sits just above shoulder height.
