Kaveh Table Lamp

A full ceramic sphere in a chalky off white, heavily speckled with dark flecks, carrying a wide grey tapered fabric shade above it.

The base is a proper globe rather than a rounded urn, which is what gives the lamp its weight on a console, and the surface is where the interest is: a matt off white ground broken up by dense dark speckling that gathers towards the middle and thins at the top, closer to volcanic stone than to glaze. The shade is a tapered drum in a plain grey fabric, wide enough to balance the sphere and to spread the light into a broad even pool. The switch sits on the cable, so it can be reached without leaning across whatever the lamp is standing on.

Where it works: a living room on a sideboard, a hallway console table, or a bedroom where a wide shade has the depth to sit properly.
