A squat glazed ceramic body cut with a rippled wave texture, in a dark grey green glaze, under a plain cream linen shade.

The body is a low rounded jar drawn in tight at the neck, with wave shaped channels carved down the sides so the glaze pools thicker in the hollows and runs thin over the ridges. That is what gives the surface its depth: it is not one colour but a dozen shades of the same dark grey green, and it is glossy rather than matt. The shade is a plain tapered linen in cream with a small nickel finial, kept simple so the glaze is the thing you look at. It sits at a true bedside height, with an in-line switch on the flex.

Where it works: on a bedside table, on a bedroom chest of drawers, or on a living room side table where the glaze catches the light.
