Vahshi Pendant Light

Two stacked drums of ribbed glass rods in an antique brass frame, hung on a twisted chain. Five lamps sit inside, so it lights a table properly rather than decoratively.

Each tier is built from vertical glass rods held between brass rings, and the ribbing breaks the light into fine vertical lines instead of letting it out as one flat sheet. The upper drum is the wider of the two and the lower sits just beneath it, which is what gives the fitting depth when you see it from across a room. The metalwork is antique brass plated steel, warm rather than yellow, on a twisted chain rather than a plain one. It is sized for a dining table or a stairwell void, not for a standard height ceiling in a small room.

Where it works: over a dining room table, or in a stairwell or hallway with the height to take a long drop.
