Bidel Pendant Light

A wide drum of ribbed glass rods in an antique brass frame, with eight lamps arranged around the ring. This is the one that lights a whole dining room.

Vertical reeded glass rods are held between two brass rings, and the ribbing splits the light into fine vertical lines so the fitting glows evenly all the way around rather than glaring from one face. Eight lamps sit inside, arranged around the ring, which is what lets this drum light a full table evenly instead of pooling everything in the middle. The metalwork is antique brass plated steel, warm rather than yellow, on a height adjustable chain. The ceiling fixing matters as much as anything else here, given the weight of glass and metal involved.

Where it works: over a large dining room table, or in a stairwell or hallway with the height for a long drop.
