Qaren Table Lamp

A white glazed ceramic body pressed with a horizontal basketweave, under an ivory linen drum shade. Tall enough to read as furniture rather than an accessory.

The weave is moulded into the clay and then glazed over, so the ridges catch a highlight and the recesses hold a shadow, which is what gives a plain white lamp any depth at all. The body swells at its widest point and pulls into a short neck under a slightly tapered drum shade in an ivory linen. Light comes out of the top and bottom of the shade and glows softly through the weave of the fabric, so this is a mood lamp rather than a reading one. It is heavy enough that it wants a sturdy surface beneath it.

Where it works: on a bedside table with room to spare, on a hallway console, or on a living room sideboard.
