Jiveh Pendant Light

A deep dome of open woven bamboo with a white diffuser set inside it, on matt black metalwork and a black flex. The weave shows on the outside and the glare is taken off inside.

The weave is left open in a diagonal lattice, so light escapes through the shade in a fine grid as well as falling from the bottom, and the natural bamboo turns a warm honey colour when lit. Behind it a white inner diffuser hides the lamp and softens what comes down, which is the detail that makes this usable over a table rather than only decorative. The metalwork is matt black, a small ceiling plate and a plain black flex, so nothing warm competes with the shade. It hangs on an adjustable drop.

Where it works: over a dining table, above a kitchen island, or in a living room. It suits a low hang because the diffuser handles the glare.
