The glass is fully opaque opal white, diffusing the lamp inside into a broad, even glow rather than showing any hot spot, and the shade's base ripples out into a gently scalloped, uneven edge typical of the schoolhouse style. A polished gold fitting and chain carry the shade down from the ceiling, giving the whole piece a cooler, classic character next to the warm glass.
