Mehrzad Wall Light

A brown ribbed glass globe carried out from the wall on a curved brushed brass arm, with the filament visible through the ribs rather than hidden behind them.

The ribs are moulded into the glass as deep vertical flutes running from the collar down to the base, so the globe reads as a melon rather than a sphere, and the light breaks into vertical bands as it passes through them. The glass itself is brown, which means the lamp is fully visible and the bulb you choose is most of the finished look. The arm sweeps up from a round backplate, over, and down into the collar, so the globe sits proud of the wall instead of tight against it. All the metalwork is brushed brass, with the grain visible across the face of the backplate.

Where it works: in a bedroom either side of a bed at bedside height, or in a living room flanking a chimney breast or a mirror.

There is no plug, no cable and no switch, so it needs a supply already in the wall. Budget for a decorative lamp as well, because a plain bulb will show through the ribs.

What comes in the box is listed on every product page under What is included. Most fittings arrive without a bulb so you can choose the brightness and warmth yourself. Some carry an integrated LED instead, and a few items are a shade or a bulb on their own.
