An open cage of vertical timber slats in a squat rounded shape and a deep walnut tone, with the bulb left visible inside and the light coming out between the ribs.

The slats are cut thin and bent to a curve, then set close together around a turned wood collar at the top, which is what gives the shade its full bellied profile without any visible frame. Because the cage is open, this does not behave like a solid shade at all. It throws a fan of hard striped shadows onto the ceiling and the walls around it, and the pattern moves as you move under it. The timber is finished in a dark walnut tone, rich and warm rather than pale, and it glows amber once a lamp is lit inside. It hangs on a plain black cord that reads as a deliberate line rather than a fitting detail.

Where it works: over a dining table, in a living room corner beside a chair, or in a bedroom where the striped shadow pattern is a feature rather than a distraction.

An open cage is only as good as the bulb inside it. Budget for a soft opal lamp, because a clear filament in this will be uncomfortable to sit under.

What comes in the box is listed on every product page under What is included. Most fittings arrive without a bulb so you can choose the brightness and warmth yourself. Some carry an integrated LED instead, and a few items are a shade or a bulb on their own.

If you need conformity documentation for a particular fitting, ask before you order and we will request it from the supplier. We do not make a blanket compliance claim across the range, because the paperwork varies by item.
